Royal & the Serpent take us to Heaven and Hell in NYC

Date:

Royal & the Serpent took fans to both Heaven and Hell at NYC’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 30, 2023. The creation of LA-based singer/songwriter Ryan Santiago, RATS are currently on their first headlining tour after opening for major artists such as Demi Lovato and Fall Out Boy. The “I’LL NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU TOUR” comes on the heels of RATS’s latest project RAT TRAP, a series of double-sided singles with four current volumes.

Multi-talented singer/songwriter Baby Fisher (Sam Fisher) was first to take the stage, playing a range of originally tracks including “Don’t Cut Your Hair,” “Jesus and Mary Jane,” and “Madonna.” Originally gaining fame on TikTok, Baby Fisher is more than a social media star as proven during his set while he continued with “Gas Money” and “This is the End.”

LA-based Jutes (Jordan Lutes) was next to take the stage with his tracks “Hollywood Hillbilly,” “Quitter,” and “Send My Love.” Jutes non-stop energy continued with “Send My Love,” “Hot Trash,” unreleased song “Born to Lose,” and “Punkstar” during which Ryan Santiago made a guest appearance to sing her part of the track. Jutes emotionally honest lyrics, raw vocals, and explosive energy had the crowd singing along as he closed with “Spit” and “Ladybug.”

Royal & the Serpent began the night in Heaven, bathed under bright white light. She played through a selection of tracks from the bands various EPs, beginning strong with “ASTROTURF” and the LGBTQ+ anthem “ONE NATION UNDERDOGS,” both tracks from RAT TRAP 1: the blueprint. Heaven continued with “THAT SUX” and “I DONT EVEN LIKE U” from the 2022 EP IF I DIED WOULD ANYONE CARE, followed by the enthusiastic power anthem “SLUG” and “JUNKIE” before Ryan fell to the floor and woke up in Hell.

Fans were transported to the second half of the show via dark red lights as RATS launched into “IM FINE,” “GO F*CK URSELF,” and “Choke” followed with a sing-along for “i can’t get high.” The set continued with “FUCKBOI REJECTS,” as well as “Love Abuser (Save Me)” and “No Regrets” from the 2022 EP Happiness is an inside job. Ryan’s energy was unmatched as she bounced around the stage for “Happier in Hell” before closing with the frenetic “EAT SPIT!” and “overwhelmed.”
