Post-punk band SMILE has unleashed “Protection”, the mesmerizing second single off their upcoming album Price of Progress.

“Protection” is a highly experimental and sophisticated track, with a myriad of influences that come together for a unique sound. From funky beats to haunting spoken word, SMILE creates an evocative atmosphere that is sexy and enigmatic. Classic new wave, post punk and pop blend in perfectly, without losing its freshness; it’s both catchy and thought-provoking.

The complexity of the sounds complements the push and pull in the lyrics: debating whether to keep your guard up and protect yourself against disappointment, or simply give in to the feeling. The listener is trapped in between, with a sense of contemplation that never fully goes away. This duality is not only relatable, but very in tune with love in the modern age.

“Protection” is now available on all streaming platforms.
