Fever Ray previews ‘Radical Romantics’ with “Kandy”

The return of Fever Ray has been one of 2023’s most exciting stories — the project of former-The Knife frontperson Karin Dreijer is one of extreme shapeshifting and subversion, and this album rollout is no exception. Radical Romantics will drop March 10th via Mute, and advance singles “What They Call Us” and “Carbon Dioxide” are stunning examples of the Fever Ray experience.

Today, they have released “Kandy” with an enthralling music video that finds Dreijer and their brother Olof (also of The Knife) paying homage to the now iconic video for The Knife’s “Pass It On”. “Kandy” marks the first time the siblings have written and produced music together in eight years, standing alongside another three songs on Radical Romantics that Olof contributed to. The song is a looping, whirlwind of experimentation that turns into a something club-ready with intense percussion and a synth line that Olof Dreijer mentioned, in a press release, was the same synth used on The Knife’s “The Captain”. Watch the video directed by Martin Falck below, and keep scrolling to see Fever Ray’s tour dates with opener CHRISTEENE.
