If girls with lyrical brass knuckles are what you’re looking for, Juliana Hale just burst through the door with her newest release “Vendetta.” Hailing from Nashville, it’s no wonder the talented singer-songwriter has racked up over a 100,000 streams on her most recent single alone. While her last single, “Hold Me,” showed a softer side of “Vendetta’s” coin, Hale’s words hold weight on both. Juliana snatches shotgun on “Vendetta,” though, and refuses to give it up.
The only thing that hurts the song is how cramped it feels during the chorus, where she would be more than welcome to crack the ceiling vocally. Hale can definitely eclipse that, as heard in her later ad-libs, so this aspect doesn’t count the song out entirely. If those background chops are anything to go by, she’ll blow it out of the water live. All things considered, spooky season is upon us, so a little bitter, boot-stomping revenge may be the perfect concoction.
