New Song, Old Roots: Demi Lovato Releases Pop-Rock Hit “29”

Date:

On Wednesday, August 17, Demi Lovato released a gripping new song, “29”, alluding to a past relationship. The American singer-songwriter took back to their roots in pop-rock music with powerful vocals, striking guitar riffs, and hard-hitting percussion.

In the song, Lovato shares their experiences from a 12-year age gap with a previous partner. They further showcase their story through the song’s chorus: “Finally twenty-nine/Funny, just like you were at the time/Thought it was a teenage dream, just a fantasy/But was it yours or was it mine?/Seventeen, twenty-nine.”

“29” follows previous singles “SKIN OF MY TEETH” and “SUBSTANCE,” all songs a part of their 8th studio album titled HOLY FVCK, which releases on August 19. Each song has shown a different side to Demi, from them opening up about substance abuse and mental health issues to growing up and learning from their experiences. Taken from these well-crafted songs, it is no doubt that this new era is well set to be a compelling and successful feat.

“29” is now available on all streaming platforms. Listen below:
