Knuckle Puck treats NYC like a hometown show

Date:

Knuckle Puck, Hot Mulligan, Meet Me At The Altar, and Anxious played to a sold out show in New York City at Irving Plaza on March 11th. This incredibly strong lineup kept the crowd literally surfing from beginning to end! Kicking the night off with an extremely strong set right from the get go, was Anxious! This up-and-coming band is on the rise very quickly (understandably so) touring with Knuckle Puck currently, Boston Manor in April, and Thrice and Bayside’s co-headlining tour in June.

Meet Me At The Altar played next, and man they are a powerful unit! The entirely woman band had amazing vocals (Edith Victoria) and countless head-banging breakdowns in their set. They are also very quickly on the rise going on tour with JXDN and playing many large festivals including When We Were Young in October.

Hot Mulligan took the stage next and absolutely crushed their set. They are the self proclaimed “#1 Hot New Band” and they for sure live up to that. Their much anticipated new EP “I Won’t Reach Out To You” comes out May 28th so keep an eye out for that!

Last but certainly not least, Knuckle Puck took the stage. The Chicago native band proclaimed several times how much they loved playing NYC because it feels like a home show. Knuckle Puck has been popular in the scene for a while, but this was a very unique tour for them. Their drummer had an injury earlier in the year so their bassist, Ryan Rumchaks, played drums instead and their singer, Joe Taylor, played bass while singing. This was definitely an unexpected switch up but they did not let this get in the way and did not miss a beat! Their set list was perfect in my opinion (I don’t want to ruin it for people who have not seen the tour yet) but they played songs that were released in 2012 all the way up to songs they just released on their newest EP “Disposable Life” which came out on February 4th. The crowd did not stop moving and surfing during their 90 minute set and this is not a show you want to miss!
