Malin Andersson releases ethereal song “Reef”

Date:

Scandinavian singer-songwriter Malin Andersson returns with “Reef – the first single from her upcoming album Space To Feel. Malin is a gem of an artist and you can tell she puts her all into everything she does. She makes music that means something not only to her but to others as well. Malin is originally from Tibro, a Swedish village where she grew up in a musical household. She began writing songs at the age of eight. Over the years growing up Malin would hone her craft in music and get recognized by the Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers & Authors, where she would be presented an award for Emerging Artists & Songwriters. Rightfully so as she is a brilliant singer/songwriter, crafting songs that really make you feel something.

That is clearly evident on her new single “Reef”, which talks about concerns around the world’s environmental crisis & humanity’s elemental connection to nature. A very real issue in today’s world that needs to be talked about more. Malin unapologetically talks on the issue, she isn’t afraid to speak her mind and it is inspiring.

Malin says of the release: “Reef is the first in a collection of songs I’m writing about ‘high sensitivity’, deciding to no longer apologise for my own vulnerability whilst encouraging others to do the same. It’s a gift to be sensitive, use it & don’t hide it!”

“Reef” is a beautiful song full of ethereal vocals and melodies along with Malin’s brilliant songwriting.  The new single is one off of her upcoming album Space to Feel which will explore her own journey through being a “highly sensitive person”, as Malin describes herself. She doesn’t think being a highly sensitive person is a negative thing though, and she is trying to erase the stigma behind it while also promoting awareness for it. It’s something a lot of people struggle with and there’s no shame in being vulnerable. Her words will truly inspire many in the same boat. Along with that beautiful message, the album also talks about Malin travelling through the emotions that come with leaving a place of tranquillity & moving to London. It’s a highly anticipated album and will surely be one of Malin’s best works of art. Malin is a true star and the future looks bright for her, we can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon for her.

Check out the beautifully shot music video to “Reef”, directed by Alex Simpson below. The imagery was inspired by the lyrics & was shot on both digital & super-8 formats, creating a perfect amalgam of sound and vision.
