A few months ago, Pinegrove announced their new album 11:11 with the release of the energetic “Alaska”. Today, the band has given listeners another preview in advance of the record’s release in a couple of weeks.

“Respirate” has been floating around the internet for a few years now, and the official version is a slow but mighty track that hones in on Pinegrove’s unique ability to wring emotion out of simplicity. Evan Stephens Hall shared the following about the track:

I was thinking about the opportunity we had in the chaos covid brought to redesign society so that it works well for more people, but that instead what’s unfolding is a doubling down on the same bent & venal structures that have resulted in so much inequity in the first place. So, how can we compassionately respond to such cold & blatant greed? How can we make sure to look out for one another in the absence of meaningful leadership & materially significant policy? We may have been stranded but we will look out for each other. Really, what choice do we have? So the song tries to remember that we’re in this together.

Check out the lyric video for the song below, and preorder 11:11 here.
