Arlie euphorically returns with “karma”

Date:

Nashville natives Arlie made a massive name for themselves with their 2018 EP Wait. Their brand of off-kilter pop was everywhere in the summer of 2018, as they played nearly every festival under the sun and tours supporting Mt. Joy, COIN, and others — following their Wysteria festival that they put on outside of Memphis, Tennessee, Arlie vanished with hardly any sign of if they were going to continue making music.

After two years of near-silence, Arlie has returned with “karma” and the promise of new music in the near future. “karma” takes their quirky pop formula and injects it with a new, pop-punk sound that makes the song one of the most exhilarating listens of 2021. It’s not hard to imagine festival audiences latching onto Arlie and this song as the next big thing, and it’s clear that the band is only getting started with their ambition. The hooks and dynamics of the track are just enormous, and when the chorus hits you’ll find yourself singing along immediately.

Lead singer Nathaniel Banks says of the song – “‘karma’ is both narrative-driven and pure emotional catharsis. It’s easily the most ‘country’ and simultaneously the most Warped-Tour-mosh-pit-ready song on our upcoming album. The song tells the story of a pregnancy scare that brought an already tumultuous relationship to the breaking point.”
