There were cowboy hats as far as the eye could see at the packed out Oliver Tree show in Nashville. Although not a country artist, Oliver found his inner western persona with his latest album, Cowboy Tears. This Nashville show was one of the final stops on his 21-show North American tour. The audience certainly got their money’s worth with two openers in Sueco and 347aidan, endless costume changes and an overall infectious kind of energy that Oliver Tree brings.
Getting the night started was the California rocker, Sueco. When attending a concert with two openers, one might expect a lackluster showing from the audience and minimal amounts of energy. Upon arriving at this show, it looked like everyone who purchased a ticket was lined up at mainstage awaiting Sueco. He brought early 2000s nostalgia with material from his new record It Was Fun While It Lasted. It was the best response imaginable for the first of three acts. Sueco connected with the crowd in a big way and had them moving throughout his set.
Next up was 347aidan. The 18-year-old Canadian rapper made his presence known with a performance that didn’t reflect his young age. He too brought great energy and owned the stage. Aidan showed love to Nashville in a custom Nashville Predators hockey jersey that he eventually threw out to the crowd. He ended his set with an uplifting message to remind the audience to chase their dreams.
Finally, it was time for the cowboy himself. Oliver got his 18-song set started with three crowd favorites in “Forget it,” “Alien Boy” and “When I’m Down.” He would go on to play material that highlighted each phase of his successful music run thus far. It was a performance full of props, costume changes, special guests and even some comedy bits. Oliver struck a great balance of actually performing the song at a high level and also bringing his whole persona. One of the most memorable moments was when there was a full stage change to reflect the new album. Oliver went on to perform his hit single, “Cowboys Don’t Cry” on top of a cow. The show went on till almost midnight and the crowd couldn’t get enough. As Oliver has said before, he told the audience that this was his last ever tour. He had the same sentiment after his previous tour in 2019. It would be surprising to see him stop touring. After a performance like this, the Oliver Tree faithful can only hope for another rodeo.
