As rock ‘n’ roll continues to creep back into the mainstream, Brooklyn-based outfit Geese seem to be at the head of the flock of artists who are spearheading this exciting sonic movement. While the quartet has been active in the indie rock circuit for quite some time, having founded in 2016, it wasn’t until last year that the band began to make significant headway.

In September 2025, Geese released their fourth studio album Getting Killed through Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam. The album is what truly launched Geese into rock stardom, facing massive critical acclaim. Both Stereogum and The New Yorker regarded Getting Killed as the best album of 2025, and in early October the band made their late night debut with their performance of the song “Taxes” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Just last month, Geese were featured as the musical act on Saturday Night Live, performing “Au Pays du Cocaine” and “Trinidad” from Getting Killed. The performance made the rounds with many music publications and ultimately cemented the band as one of alternative rock’s most exciting new acts.

Geese rounded out last year by embarking on the North American leg of their Getting Killed World Tour, and are going to pick up the tour once again on February 5, as they spend the month touring across Australia and Asia. In March, the group will bring their new record across Europe and the U.K.

Since their formation nearly a decade ago, Geese have remained consistent in their musical work ethic, releasing a total of four studio albums thus far, including their debut album A Beautiful Memory (2018), Projector (2021), 3D Country (2023) and last year’s Getting Killed. The members all met while in high school and began recording material together not long after forming.

After releasing their debut EP, EP, and A Beautiful Memory in 2018, as well as their sophomore EP Bottomless Pink Lagoon in 2019, the band initially intended to break up in 2020 after several members were accepted into Oberlin College and Berklee College of Music. However, by the end of the year, Geese’s demos caught the attention of several record labels, including Fat Possum and Sub Pop. It was Partisan Records that they ultimately chose to sign with.

Geese released two more full-length albums, Projector and 3D Country, over the next few years, and continued to rise in the rock world. Vocalist Cameron Winter released his debut solo album, Heavy Metal, in 2024, and the highly successful album helped both Winter and Geese gain even more recognition. Leading right into the promotion and release of Getting Killed, it was truly Geese’s latest musical effort that catapulted them into the mainstream recognition they now face today.

Geese have been compared to many great New York rock outfits that have come before them, namely The Strokes, as well as numerous household names from the alt-rock genre, such as Radiohead, Television, and The Arctic Monkeys. Through Winter’s distinct vocal style, as well as the band’s signature fuzzed-out, melancholy cacophony, there’s no denying that Geese will continue to soar in today’s bubbling rock world.
