Ahead of their fifth full-length release, Taking Solace, Vansire returns with “For the Moment,” a lush reflection on the sanctuary and community found within music. The track serves as an open invitation to their listeners — particularly those navigating the shared anxieties of their generation — to lean into the track as solace from an increasingly volatile world.
Based in Minnesota, Vansire is the collaborative project of Josh Augustin and Sam Winemiller, perfect for fans of Toro y Moi and Washed Out. By self-producing and self-distributing their work, the indie pop duo maintains a DIY approach, bucking the traditional industry models. Their sound balances optimistic compositions with lyrical depth, acknowledging life’s weight without allowing it to crush them.
Augustin describes the new single as “a kind of metamodern tribute to people who listen to us and those who occupy a similar age range to us… taking solace in the community and expression that music can afford us, reflecting on the way our lives have changed through forces outside our control, but celebrating the ties that music can provide us.”
Though the duo has toured extensively, no dates have been announced yet to support their upcoming LP. Taking Solace releases independently on June 5th, and fans remain hopeful that a tour announcement is on the horizon.
