Tyler, The Creator is Apple Music’s 2025 Artist of the Year

Date:

Apple Music has just revealed Tyler, The Creator as their Artist of the Year for 2025. He is being celebrated for his impact on the music scene, specifically in hip-hop, over the last 12 months.

Born Tyler Okonma, 2025 was Tyler, The Creator’s most successful year yet for his Apple Music streams; between Nov. 2024 and Oct. 2025, over 4.5 billion minutes of Tyler’s music was played around the world. He kicked off the year with his CHROMAKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR, marking his biggest tour to date as well as his highest grossing tour yet. Mid-tour, he wrote and recorded his latest studio album, DON’T TAP THE GLASS; the surprise project hit No. 1 on Apple Music almost instantly on release day. One of the album’s singles, “Sugar On My Tongue,” held steady on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 17 straight weeks.

Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director, says that “his creative risk-taking is only matched by the care he takes to present it, and he inspires his peers and fans now, just as he will continue to inspire generations to come.” Other successful artists such as Lil Yachty and Billie Eilish have cited Tyler as one of their inspirations in the past.

However, Tyler isn’t letting the fact that 2025 is ending stop him yet. He recently received 5 GRAMMY nominations for the 2026 awards, including a nod in the biggest category of the night: Album Of The Year (CHROMAKOPIA). To wrap up the year, he will be making his feature-film debut in Marty Supreme on Christmas Day. The period drama stars Timothée Chalamet and was directed by critically acclaimed Josh Safdie.
