townsend is “driving in the rain” in new single

Date:

Nashville-based indie pop/rock artist, songwriter and producer townsend has released his newest single “driving in the rain.”

According to his Instagram story, “driving in the rain” was written 3 years ago alongside some friends and collaborators in a cabin. Though the song was forgotten for a while, thankfully it became a permanent signature stuck in the artist’s head and is now out on all streaming platforms for listeners.

This newest single comes after the immense popularity of his last single “goodbyes,” which has surpassed 2 million streams on Spotify. “driving in the rain” gives off the vibes of a gloomy love song on a rainy day. In literal terms, the song reflects on a love interest and the intensity within the relationship. It’s about how this feeling of intensity is worth the fight to ensure that the love stays connected, no matter how scary it may seem to “sail through the storm.”

It’s electrifying, somewhat frantic, and lovely, but addicting no less, as seen in the lyrics: “So I try to take it easy when I feel your thunder / but one wrong move and I’m six feet under / the calm before the hydroplane is worth the storm some days / Now I’m spinning my wheels trying to stay on pavement / better weather never seemed so frustrating / ’cause you feel like driving in the rain, like driving in the rain.”
