Date:

Heavy metal band In This Moment began their 2025 Black Mass Tour in Johnson City, Tennessee, at the Freedom Hall Civic Centre. The show opened with a performance from Dayseeker. The concert had In This Moment’s staple theatricality, along with a mix of songs from across the band’s 8 albums.

The show started with a drop curtain revealing the band in an array of outfits. Frontwoman Maria Brink was in all white in a doorway at centre stage with an elaborate, matching mask with two backing dancers beside her. The rest of the band were positioned across the stage in all black with skull facepaint on. Along the back of the stage were music videos and lyrics of some of the songs performed, along with videos that matched the band’s heavy metal aesthetics.

The staging changed throughout the show, with the doorway being removed halfway through to reveal mannequin heads on spikes. Brink also changed outfits and masks, sometimes to match with a song or album. Notably, she had a black-and-white fox mask on during the performance of “Big Bad Wolf” from the 2014 Black Widow album.

Closing the show was “Whore” from their 2012 album, Blood. With the band off stage, a tall lectern with the word “whore” written across it came front and center. A voiceover monologue began as Brink appeared on top of the lectern with her face fully obscured by a large white hennin that also had “whore” written across it. In the monologue, the lead singer states “when I was only just a small girl, I was told that I would amount to absolute shit” and “if that can help inspire in turning any of this dirty, dirty hate into love then I am proud to say to you tonight, ladies and gentleman, I will be your whore.”

The show also had a costume contest for the audience, with fans encouraged to dress up and enter for the chance to join In This Moment on stage. Concertgoers congregated at the merch booth before the show, with three winners joining the band on stage later on. This contest is expected to run for the rest of the tour with more prizes hinted at by the band.

The next headlining show for In This Moment is on September 23rd in Dallas, Texas, at the South Side Ballroom. The band will slowly make their way to the West Coast before finishing the Black Mass Tour in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at the Wind Creek Events Centre. More ticketing information can be found here.
