We are all victims of time denial. You know what I’m referring to—when you think that 2010 actually happened five years ago, when you think that the ‘90s were only ten years ago… It’s weird how that happens, right? So, when I think back to the release of Rendering Feelings by alt-rock duo The Darcys, I believe that it only came out a few months ago—not in September of 2024.
For Jason Couse and Wes Marskell, the duo who make up The Darcys, the time probably feels even shorter. Since the release of Rendering Feelings, they have been busy keeping up with all the hype. The album found much success on rock and alt radio, with four times the placement in the top ten slots. It also went on to television fame, as various singles found spots on Grey’s Anatomy, My Life with the Walter Boys, The World Series, and the NFL Playoffs. The Darcys also toured this album very hard, which helped fans of its songs or of these television shows put a face to the name. Overall, Rendering Feelings was the duo’s biggest album ever, and now The Darcys are ready to properly celebrate with the release of Rendering Feelings (GOODTIME Edition).
It’s true that you never want to have too much of a good thing, but the rules don’t apply to The Darcys. With Rendering Feelings (GOODTIME Edition), Jason and Wes give us the songs from the original album, such as hits “Dreaming” and “Trouble Found Me,” but they also give us two new singles. In January, they teased us with a taste of these two singles with “over thinking,” a moody alt-rock ballad that gets into themes of desperation, hopelessness, and desire. We hear lines like, “Has it been hard or getting harder? / Am I the only one who’s overthinking? / We always said we’d get through anything / And now we’re over,” speaking to the ways that heartbreak isn’t linear.
There’s also “GOODTIME,” which has a zany, lively ‘80s vibe. It’s already doing well in the sports circuit, as FOX Sports has blanket licensed it for 2026 and Sportsnet has confirmed its use for NHL playoffs and MLB montages. And for any Blue Jays fans out there, be on the lookout for The Darcys during an airing of the game, as a performance video will soon be featured. It definitely contains a good vibe, as it focuses on having someone to turn to when the world becomes too much.
Giving us more details about the release, The Darcys explain,
“‘GOODTIME’ is about the moment when everything feels loud all at once. Not just the room or the party, but the entire world. Small talk and background chatter blur into a constant hum of anxiety shaped by uncertainty. It’s the kind of noise you don’t just hear, you feel it in your body. It’s overstimulating, disorienting, and hard to escape. There’s something surreal about trying to live a normal life while pretending everything is okay. But ‘GOODTIME’ isn’t just about despair. At its core, it holds onto the idea of human connection as a form of resistance. In a world that feels overwhelming, unstable, and designed to divide, choosing presence, choosing to care, and choosing to stand up for each other is what matters.”
In March and April, The Darcys will join Two Feet on the road during his ‘Next Steps’ North American tour. You can catch The Darcys as the main support from March 22 to April 10, where they will play in venues like Louisville’s Mercury Ballroom and Cleveland’s House of Blues.
