The Aces announce new sapphic disco-pop album ‘Gold Star Baby’ and release new single “You Got Me”

Date:

The Aces announced their fourth full-length album Gold Star Baby will be released on August 15th via SoundOn.

Deemed as the metaphorical “if you know, you know” club of every city, the pop four-piece crafted this album to be a glittering celebration of queer joy, liberation, and pure pop fun. It strives to be the soundtrack to a perfect night out that celebrates being comfortable in your own skin. Gold Star Baby also takes influence from 2000s pop royalty, including the Pussycat Dolls and Spice Girls, and is available for pre-order/pre-save here

The Aces also released “You Got Me,” which serves as the album’s swooning confessional third single. It explores the effort to piece together the right words to let someone know you’re in love with them, ultimately landing on repeatedly admitting, “I love you babe,” by the end. Speaking on the new single, The Aces shares,

“This song is about that short and sweet period of time when you realize you’re in love but you’re not sure how to tell them. We wanted it to sound like the feeling of falling in love; warm, shimmery, bouncy and a little bit of nerves.”

Their 2023 album I’ve Loved You For So Long resonated as a vulnerable embodiment of self-discovery, closeted love, and religious trauma, while Gold Star Baby is a culmination of unapologetic self-expression and acceptance. It’s a new, liberated chapter for The Aces that sees the band embracing their identities with a desire to be out on the dancefloor.

The band will be appearing at multiple festivals over the next few months, including Summerfest in Milwaukee and All Things Go Festival in both New York and Washington DC. Tickets and information for The Aces’ upcoming shows can be found here
