We are nearly a month away from getting a fourth studio album from The 1975, so the boys have decided to increase the hype with the release of yet another single. The band started giving us glimpses into Notes On A Conditional Form in July of last year, when they released its first track, “The 1975.” Four other singles have been released since then, ranging in genre from post-dubstep to punk. The boys love to play around with their sound, so if anyone thought the album would sound one way, they should have known better.
After dropping the folksy “The Birthday Party” last month, the boys have mixed things up by not mixing things up – they have released another single in this mellow, folk genre. Single number six, better known as “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America,” is a little trippy, with Matty making references to airplanes in the sea to seeds in the soil. Despite its peculiar metaphors, though, the track has a calming vibe that encourages one to really think about what is being said. The single is all the more serene with the addition of Phoebe Bridgers, whose soft vocals can be heard throughout the track.
Earlier this week, The 1975 announced that Notes On A Conditional Form is going to be released May 22, 2020 – almost a whole year after its initial release date of May 2019. Let’s hope that this is the final time that it gets pushed back! You can check out the track listing below.
