Award-winning singer-songwriter Teghan Devon shares her new single, “Shadow.”
The song reflects on the painful moment of realising that the person she leaned on in her most vulnerable state wasn’t who she thought they were, but someone who took advantage instead. She shares:
“Shadow is about being in a relationship with the worst person at the worst time, but for me personally, it’s more of a mix of exes and friends that I fit into one. I wouldn’t call myself naive, but I am very trusting. I will meet someone and automatically assume that they are a good person. When I’m wrong, I usually find out the hard way and it sticks with me.”
The moody electric guitar melodies shine through alongside her distinct vocal tone. Her voice has been compared to Norah Jones, Edie Brickell, and Fiona Apple. With influences from boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy, and Lizzy McAlpine, “Shadow” blends intimate storytelling with her indie-rock edge. She describes her style as “indie-folk emotional wrecking ball songs.”
