sombr’s “back to friends” places #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart

Date:

sombr the project of 19-year-old breakthrough singer-songwriter Shane Boose — has earned his first radio chart #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay with “back to friends” after placing on the chart for 10 weeks. Although scoring #1 may seem impressive enough for the 19-year-old musician, it also marks the quickest accession in almost a decade for a musician’s debut on the Alternative Airplay chart.

“back to friends,” released on Dec. 27, 2024, is being recognized by charts all over and accumulating millions of streams daily. Having earned sombr his first Billboard Hot 100 placement and a TV debut performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this song’s success is showcasing the young musician’s talent and ability to build a fanbase and a solid platform in the industry.

Apart from the success of “back to friends,” his latest single, “undressed,” has also earned him spots on charts like Top 40 and Hot AC. The two singles are also both found in the top 10 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, Spotify’s U.S. Top 50, and Spotify’s Global Top 50.

After opening for Daniel Seavy on the Second Wind Tour, sombr announced his own headlining tour, The Late Nights & Young Romance Tour, which sold out in seconds during the presale.
