Searows announces upcoming EP ‘flush’ out Nov. 22

Date:

Portland singer-songwriter Alec Duckart, known professionally as Searows, has announced his new EP, flush, which is scheduled for release on Nov. 22 through Last Recordings On Earth.

The 5-track project was written over the past two years, with distinct sonic and thematic intentions, which he states was “very much [his] intention.” Searows shared, “I post a lot of clips of songs on social media that I never end up finishing, but I thought I should dedicate a project to releasing some of the songs that I still really care for but that I knew wouldn’t fit into the next full album I make.”

Of the new single “toothache,” Searows reflected:

“For a lot of my life I have put far too much effort into being nice and accommodating in situations where I didn’t need to be. I think this song is about learning how to let go of the need to make other people feel comfortable at the cost of your own dignity and personhood.”

Searows co-produced this EP with Jonathan Pearce, guitarist of New Zealand indie rock band The Beths. He expressed gratitude for Pearce’s contributions, saying, “I’m so grateful for everything he brought to each song and for helping me see my vision clearly, even while reminding me when not to overthink the small details.”

flush tracklist:
1. martingale
2. to be seen
3. toothache
4. calico
5. [there is still time]

Presave flush the EP now.
