rlyblonde gets angry on “Your Angel”

Date:

Through her photography, directing, and music, Brooklyn-based rlyblonde is able to express what’s really on her mind. By day, she serves as the go-to photographer, videographer, and creative director for some of New York’s burgeoning indie artists, bringing their music to life. At night, she turns the tables and creates her own music, establishing her place in the pop scene. Earlier this year, rlyblonde dropped her debut EP, Fantasy, which featured hits like “Hot Girls Always Win” and “Spiltmilk.” Before we close out the year, rlyblonde is following up the EP with “Your Angel,” an alt-rock banger that spices things up for the holidays.

With elements of a power ballad, “Your Angel” is anything but angelic. The moody electric guitar and dramatic drum beats give way to rlyblonde’s gritty vocals, capturing the anger she holds inside. She describes a situation with someone that was less than pleasant, pointing out the way this person would judge her or misinterpret what was going on. In the end, she gave this person what was coming, singing, “And I could make a bet / That you’re sitting in your bed / Replaying every word I said to you / Or maybe wishing you were dead.” In the choruses, she declares, “I won’t be your angel / Guess I’ll see you in hell,” ready to end things for good. You can check it out below.

About “Your Angel,” rlyblonde explains,

“Creating music, for me, was always something fueled partially by anger; an anger at my life not being what I wanted, of being jealous of people around me, of feeling trapped or stuck. So this song really sums up all of those angry, rebellious, teen feelings while also tapping into something a bit darker – what it really feels like to have a trauma response to someone or something and what to do with those complicated feelings.”

You can celebrate the release of “Your Angel” with rlyblonde at Gold Sounds in Brooklyn tonight. Get tickets here.

You can listen to “Your Angel” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
