Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII is a newly restored version of the legendary 1972 concert film, returning to cinemas and IMAX worldwide on April 24, 2025.
Directed by Adrian Maben, the film has been meticulously remastered in 4K from its original 35mm footage, with enhanced audio mixed by Steven Wilson. Originally filmed in October 1971 at the ancient Pompeii Amphitheatre, this intimate no-audience performance captures Pink Floyd before their massive success with The Dark Side of the Moon
The film features classic tracks like “Echoes,” “A Saucerful of Secrets,” and “One of These Days”, along with behind-the-scenes footage of the band at Abbey Road Studios. The soundtrack album, featuring Wilson’s 2025 remix, will be released on May 2, on CD, vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, and Dolby Atmos formats — marking the first time the performance is available as a full-length live record.
The restoration project, led by Lana Topham, involved frame-by-frame reconstruction from original negatives found in Pink Floyd’s archives. Wilson’s remixed audio aims to maintain the authenticity of the 1971 sound, enhancing depth and clarity.
Tickets for the theatrical release are on sale now at www.pinkfloyd.film, with the album available for pre-order.
