Phoebe Go releases “Hey” and announces debut EP ‘Player’

Date:

Phoebe Go recently released “Hey,” the 3rd single from her upcoming debut EP, Player, out October 28th. This summer, she released her debut single, “We Don’t Talk,” followed by her 2nd single, “The Kid.” Phoebe Go is the solo project of Australian alt-pop artist Phoebe Lou, who has been releasing music since the early 2010s. She previously fronted the dream-pop band, Snakadaktal, then, following the group’s dissolution, formed Two People with her Snakadaktal bandmate, Joey Clough. Her solo project is a departure from dream-pop, instead, she opts for a softer acoustic sound with whispers of indie-rock riffs.

Written after a family tragedy, “Hey” is incredibly vulnerable. Phoebe reveals that she wrote the song after her cousin’s passing; she explains, “I didn’t know how to make sense of it all. I still don’t, and I don’t think I ever will, but this song is really my way of coming to grips with that.” Navigating the aftermath, Phoebe was able to find comfort in this song, and she is proud of that. She adds, “Life aches, and we’ve got to learn how to live with that. I think, in that way, it’s kind of hinting at hope, that maybe there’s life inside loss.”
