Australian alt-pop trio PEPTALK has teamed up with Sydney singer-songwriter Huck Hastings to deliver “Pretty Colours,” a track filled with dreaminess mixed with folk-pop intimacy.
The track is about having an unflinching conversation with yourself and resisting the temptation to sugarcoat the past and instead confronting experiences exactly as they were. Originally inspired by a professional relationship gone sour, the song compares that fallout to a romance that desperately needed walking away from.
The collaboration itself was born out of a queer writing camp in 2023, where both artists connected over their shared love of sentimental lyricism and the “joys of caring a bit too much.” That genuine connection translates beautifully into the song’s chemistry.
Consisting of Jay-Lee Kwan (keys), Lara Frew (bass), and Phoebe Sinclair (lead vocals), PEPTALK are advocates for representation. Two-thirds queer, two-thirds POC, and entirely female, the trio has steadily built a reputation for infectious live energy and authentic storytelling.
Fans will have a chance to hear “Pretty Colours” live when PEPTALK hits the road across Australia this October:

Sydney/Eora – Oxford Art Factory – Oct 10
