OAKLND and Almost July join forces in “Older”

If you’ve been keeping up with us here at Melodic Magazine, you might recognize OAKLND from previous coverage. Recently, he’s teamed up with NYC-based band Almost July for their newest single, “Older.” Both artists take on a hazy approach to pop, with gentle-sounding instrumentation and vocals & vulnerable lyricism.

“Older” is a testament to the bliss of youth, and how naivety can spark up love. The verses switch off between the two vocalists; OAKLND has a wide, mellow tone to his voice, and Almost July brings brightness to the sound of the track. The chorus marries the two artists in harmony. The use of synths and vocoder in the production are similar to the styles of The 1975 & COIN. This track is bittersweet, yet powerful. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for another collaboration from these two in the future.
