Industrial rock trailblazers Nine Inch Nails released a striking music video for their latest single and first song from the upcoming TRON: Ares score, “As Alive As You Need Me To Be.”
The video forces viewers to get up close and personal with frontman Trent Reznor in a dramatic, unnerving fashion. With visuals as loud as the music itself, the breaking apart of faces, the intense, detailed close-ups, and the abstract demonstration of TRON’s AI-focused plot are sure to captivate the audience.
Directed by Maxime Quoilin, the futuristic music video brings the listeners into the world of the commanding lyrics atop an energizing, electronic beat: “All these hands have got a hold of me / Give me something to believe in / As alive as you need me to be.”
The “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” music video is the first from the American rock icons in five years. This single debut also marks Nine Inch Nails’ first release since the release of their 2020 albums, Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts.
“As Alive As You Need Me To Be” is the lead single from the TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), composed entirely by Nine Inch Nails. This soundtrack is the first ever film score by the complete band, though members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed a combined 20 scores, winning two Oscars, three Golden Globes, and a GRAMMY to date. TRON: Ares is the third film in the TRON series and is set to release on October 10, while the soundtrack will release earlier on September 19, available to pre-order here.
Nine Inch Nails first previewed the new music video at their back-to-back sold-out shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. They will continue the Peel It Back world tour throughout the United States, concluding with two nights at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 18 and 19.
