Her music has that “it” factor, which is why Tiger La Flor’s 2024 debut EP, see me in hell, was a success with fans and critics alike. The independent EP gained millions of streams, and singles like “super8” and “living in the 90s” went viral. Listeners are drawn to the indie pop star’s tasteful style, whether she’s bringing grunge energy, catchy pop hooks, or emotional narratives to her songs. EARMILK even described her music as “the grainy film of memories.” This is such an interesting yet relevant comment, as Tiger La Flor’s next release makes a reference to photography.
On “KODACHROMATIC,” Tiger La Flor revels in a feel-good type of love. The jazzy horns and tender pop vocals hit you immediately, pulling you into a colorful new world. You can visualize colorful flowers blooming or confetti raining down from the sky as Tiger La Flor sings, “When the world is grey, we’re kodachromatic” and “Honey, you make me love in color.” Its vibrant attitude makes “KODACHROMATIC” a song you definitely want on your playlist this summer.
About “KODACHROMATIC,” Tiger La Flor explains,
“‘KODACHROMATIC’ is a wordplay on Kodachrome film. I’ve always thought it rather beautiful how photography freezes a moment in time, much like falling in love does. Suddenly, everything feels in color. And the best kinds of love grow more beautiful with age, much like a photograph. I’ve never truly known that sort of love, so the song is a daydream. That’s why it begins, ‘Come on, close your eyes…’ because I’m imagining what it might feel like. And I hope I do someday.”
