Slow Joy releases emotional sophomore album, ‘Esteban Flores,’ with single “Feel It All Again”

By Emily McCormack

August 27, 2026

Mexican-American songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Slow Joy has released his second album, Esteban Flores, via MDDN Records.

This deeply personal 11-track record finds the artist navigating vulnerable songwriting and themes of grief, uncertainty, growing up, and living with aspects of life beyond human control.

Pairing raw emotions with a harmonious blend of shoegaze, emo, alt-rock, and post-rock influences has quickly become the epitome of Slow Joy’s sound, and this is a defining thread throughout Esteban Flores. Flores shares more:

“If Esteban Flores was the last record I wrote, I’d be really proud. I said everything I wanted to say.”

Produced by Brett Romnes, Esteban Flores features numerous collaborators, including Josh Varnadore (OneRepublic, David Guetta, Gwen Stefani), Blake Gamel, and Matt Malpass (blink-182, Halsey, mgk), as well as Florida emo band Pool Kids on “I Lied (When I Said I’m Alright).”

This sophomore record highlights previously released singles such as the emotionally honest “Forget” and “SLC Punk on an SSRI,” a humorously dark and self-aware track.

The new project arrives just as Slow Joy concludes his headlining I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour in support of his critically acclaimed debut album A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming (2025). The record showcases breakout singles, including “Pulling Teeth,” “Soft Slam,” and “Crawling,” putting the New Mexico native on the map in the alternative music scene.
