Searows is back after a year-long hiatus with new single “Dearly Missed.” Known for his calming, heartfelt energy, Searows is an up-and-coming indie folk artist who captures the emotional essence of what it means to feel everything all at once.
Alec Duckart (professionally known as Searows) was born in Lexington, KY, and currently resides in Portland, OR. Having Pacific Northwestern roots, he draws inspiration from the communities he was raised in alongside personal hardships he has dealt with — using music as an outlet to express himself.
“Dearly Missed” embodies just that. In this six-minute track, Searows dives deep into the first- and third-person perspectives of what it’s like being in tumultuous relationships with people you care for. From themes of uncertainty to grasping the loss of someone due to mental health, “Dearly Missed” is a heavy tune filled with built-up grief looking for a release.
From a visual standpoint, Searows showcases this darkness of grief, anger, and rage in the “Dearly Missed” music video. Searows channels these emotions by digging a grave only to destroy it with his electric guitar, an instrument that was an anchor he used to keep himself afloat. Notably, he reminds us that healing isn’t linear.
Announced earlier this week via Instagram, Searows’ sophomore album Death in the Business of Whaling will be available to stream on all digital platforms starting Jan. 23. The upcoming album is currently available to pre-order and pre-save here.
Searows will be supporting Tamino’s Every Dawn’s a Mountain Autumn tour this month in Europe and the United Kingdom. Tickets are available here.
