New single from Florida’s own Iliad asks how to process the loss of a friend

Date:

South Florida’s own Iliad returns with another certified banger. Their new single “Skeletons” dropped today.

Members Jules (vocals & guitar), Arkii (bass), David (guitar), and Tobias (drums) made their 2022 debut as a band with a demo titled “Insecurity.” They released their debut studio album titled Slug in 2024, containing popular songs “Tiger Balm,” “Clementine,” and “Slug.”

They gave listeners a sneak peek of “Skeletons” in a post on TikTok in June, revealing that the song is about “losing someone you love in ways you can’t control.”

It’s a dreamy indie track tackling the inner turmoil of emotions that clouds one’s mind through grief and sorrow, displaying empathy and self-pity for what could have been in a situation far out of reach, tangled in the hands of a cruel fate: “I don’t wanna think about you anymore / creating a problem I just want to ignore / Negative feelings make me feel guilty enough / for being human and it’s been pretty rough, over and over again.”

Fans both new and old can rest assured that there’s much more to come from the creative and brilliant minds behind Iliad.
