New single “but u like…” by suggi paired with deluxe EP release

Date:

For fans of infamous artists Hojean, JUNNY, pH-1, and slchld, Korean-Canadian artist suggi returns with a blissfully upbeat track titled “but u like…”

This song comes as an additional track, alongside the previously released single “feeling,” from the singer’s second EP titled child, still (deluxe), a special version in honor of his latest EP dropped earlier this year called child again. In an Instagram post, suggi says the following regarding the album’s inspiration:

“this ep, especially the newly added songs ‘feeling’ and ‘but u like…’ talk about a topic i have never been able to in my music. ive never felt comfortable enough with myself nor was i ready for anyone to see me differently, but i felt it was the right time as the EP’s entire meaning is that i want to feel as transparent and raw as i did when i was a child.”

suggi says “but u like…” is about a shy boy having a crush on a person that is very outgoing and sociable. However, that person doesn’t like people like him. Tragic lyrics like “I’m just an introvert / learning to leave home and / You’re my extrovert, taking me out, so I can feel strong” are hidden behind the painstakingly uplifting rhythm of the song.
