Boston-born indie-pop artist and multi-instrumentalist Lucy Frost is back with her latest single “Slip.”
The track opens up with an acoustic guitar and shifts into a hauntingly spacious soundscape that is both raw and dark. “Slip” seems to explore the way it feels for the mind to spiral on numerous issues that relate to insecurity and the numbing realities that face us each day.
Frost’s background in film scoring shines through this track from the first note, and as the track continues, she showcases swirling melodies and imperfect, live drums. There is something cathartic about the instrumentation of the song, and audiences of all kinds are sure to relate to it deeply.
Lucy shares the meaning behind her newest single, saying:
“‘Slip’ is the most intimate, raw, personal glance into our life so far. We begin to dive into the depths of our own emotional insecurities and relationship patterns that seem to be at the root of our trauma. As we come face to face with everything that has been buried down thus far, we let out an eruption of brutal honesty, cold truths, and heavy conversations that have been at a boiling point for years. Our lack of self-confidence, our instinct to shut down emotions, the cracks in our relationship with our family, it all just seems to ‘slip’ right off the tongue. And fuck, does it feel good.”
