A heartbreaking new single has been released by rock band Catch Your Breath after a year of no new music. The stunning new track that follows the release of successful album Shame On Me, titled “Dark,” comes as a “prequel to ‘Dial Tone,'” according to an Instagram reel posted by the band after months of teasing the new release to patiently waiting fans. “This song is for anyone still sleeping on the side they left,” lead singer Josh Mowery comments about the song.
“nobody talks about how quickly things can go from being okay to not okay, without even knowing. and that’s what we talk about in our next song [dark.]”
This quote comes from a promotional TikTok created by the band. In comparison to “Dial Tone,” “Dark” becomes a soundtrack to the emotional turmoil of someone so deprived of emotional substance — the icy shoulder of bleak “nothingness” from someone so detached from the relationship. This is explored in the lyrics: “Tell me am I in a dream / ’cause everything feels wrong / I never thought you’d leave but then I wake up and you’re gone / I said this is what I need, but this ain’t what I want / ‘Cause I lost everything and now it’s tearing us apart / Don’t leave me in the dark.”
Catch Your Breath is about to head out on a supporting run for the band NOTHING MORE on their Carnal Nature World Tour, alongside fellow openers Solence and Ankor in Europe and Doobie and Archers for the North American leg of the tour.
