Gaining global attention after the release of her debut single “Slow Burn” in 2019, Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Jenny Kern has released an emotional single titled “bones.”
Produced by Jenny herself, this song incorporates moody synths that cut straight through to the heart, capturing the feeling of clinging desperately to a love that’s slipping away from you. In an Instagram caption, Kern says:
“This song is truly the most real and honest piece of art I’ve ever created. I wrote it right after the person I truly thought was the love of my life ended things. At the time, everyone told me to let them go — ‘just move on’ — but the idea of letting go felt impossible. It still does even though I know it just takes time. I recorded a partial voice memo one night, never imagining I’d produce it, let alone release it. It was just a moment I needed to have — something I needed to get out of my system. But over the next week or two, it became more than that. So I decided to build it out.”
Last year Jenny released an EP titled, I Never Thought That You Were Listening, which had two songs charting on top 40 radio. Since it’s release, she has amassed over 1 million streams on Spotify — a very well-earned success for her unique artistry.
