The Bolton-based band Florentenes have just released their newest single, “Madeline.”
“Madeline” is a true indie-pop single that boasts an instinctive guitar-led sound firmly rooted in nothern England’s rich tradition of storytelling and music culture. The songwriting demonstrates the band’s musicianship, and the instrumentation is fully live and brimming with infectious energy.
Frontman William Smith explains the track’s meaning, stating:
“‘Madeline’ is about those moments of chance, connection and letting yourself be swept up in life, the highs, the heartbreaks, and the energy that comes from just living in the moment.”
The teenage four-piece consists of vocalist and songwriter William Smith, lead guitarist Luke Holding, bassist Harry Stubbs, and drummer Liam Fiddy.
The Florentenes have been making waves in the UK as of late. With their jagged riffs, melodic basslines, and addictive hooks, the band is bringing together the raw feel of records of time passed and the sound of the future. Star-studded producer Dave Eringa shares:
“This is the band the UK music industry has been waiting for, insanely talented, insanely young, and cool as! No clicks, no autotune, no nonsense, just massive songs recorded live and allowed to breathe like the records of old, but sounding like the records of tomorrow.”
The band have been growing their live following and cementing their place in the new wave of modern indie rock all throughout the UK, packing out venues and supporting other artists such as The Royster Club and Jamie Webster. Florentenes now have there sights set on making 2026 their breakout year.
