Cigarettes After Sex release two new singles, “Anna Karenina” and “The Crystal Ship”

Date:

Earlier this week, Cigarettes After Sex announced the release of two new singles, “Anna Karenina” and “The Crystal Ship.”

Known for their ethereal and alluring cadence, Cigarettes After Sex was founded by lead vocalist and guitarist Greg Gonzalez in 2008. With current band members Jacob Tomsky (drums) and Randall Miller (drums), Cigarettes After Sex gained traction from their live YouTube performances in the mid-2010s with demos and unreleased songs. The band released their self-titled debut album in June 2017.

As of late, Cigarettes After Sex have regained popularity on TikTok for “Apocalypse,” which is widely recognized as their second single from the Cigarettes After Sex. Detailing an emotional rollercoaster and confronting what it means to love someone who feels stagnant, “Apocalypse” touched a new generation of music fans who felt moved by its raw portrayal of vulnerability, desire, and ache of intimate love.

Since then, Cigarettes after Sex have released two studio albums, Cry (2019) and X (2024), alongside multiple singles. The double release of “Anna Karenina” and “The Crystal Ship,” met with enthusiastic responses from devoted fans, can be interpreted as a sign of a potential new record from the beloved slowcore trio.

Both singles are now available to stream.
