Nashville-based singer-songwriter Cassandra Coleman has released her newest single “Dying Star” via Warner Records. The rising country star unveiled the track along with the accompanying music video.
“Dying Star” opens with ethereal harmonies paired with a soft acoustic guitar. Coleman wrote on social media earlier this month that “the state of the world has me making exclusively existential music” — and this is a perfect description for the haunting track. Lyrics like “Is it everything I hoped for / Can I peek behind the veil / Do we dine at fancy tables, is there still dirt under my nails?” and “Take it slow / You’re a dying star in a beat-up car driving down some cosmic road” truly put into perspective the ephemerality of life.
