A couple of years ago, if you had told breakout duo Buffalo Traffic Jam that they were going to be everyone’s favorite new folk group, they probably wouldn’t have believed you. But in the two years that they have been releasing music, Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross have accomplished so much. There’s their sold out headline tour; crossing 4M monthly listeners on Spotify; making their national TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning; earning March’s 2026 Chartbreaker title for Billboard; and landing various ‘Artists to Watch’ slots with Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, and more. Buffalo Traffic Jam are now gearing up to release their debut album, Pictures of You, which is scheduled to drop on July 31.
To celebrate the news, the duo has released the title track. The single contains Buffalo Traffic Jam’s recognizable indie-folk sound, with inviting acoustic guitar lines and anthemic melodies. The vocals also have a calm yet urgent quality to them, bringing further meaning to the reflective lyrics. We hear, “You said you needed space / I got time, time to waste” and “I’m stuck staring at the moon / With old pictures of you,” as Buffalo Traffic Jam expand on this moment in time. Telling us more about the album, Frankie shares,
“When I lost my grandma this past fall, I went back home to my parents’ farm for a couple of days. Together, we sat down and sifted through old photos to display at her funeral, and it felt like living my whole life over again. Every image, old and recent, was a chapter in our family’s story.
“I began writing our first album shortly after, and slowly realized these songs were doing the same thing. Each one captures a short, specific moment that shaped who I am. They aren’t just songs. They’re polaroids—snapshots of exactly what I felt at that time. I hope you listen to this and laugh, cry, smile, and drift back to your own moments—the ones that made you who you are. This is ‘Pictures of You.’”
