Belle and Chain introduce us to their eclectic folk-rock sound with “Don’t You Worry Babe”

Date:

There are plenty of reasons to listen to music, but one of the most common reasons is because of the support and healing that it offers. When actor, filmmaker, and musician Spencer Grammer was violently stabbed in the right forearm in 2020, she was encouraged to pick up the guitar as a form of recovery. In 2024, this new outlet morphed into a strong form of expression, with Grammer writing songs, singing music, and forming a band with multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Davis IL.

The duo now go by Belle and Chain, and they center this project on their songwriting. Grammer explains,

“I believe two brains are better than one, and collaboration is when the greatest work is created.”

Their music blends rock, folk, and Americana, and features shining textures, haunting vocals, and rich lyricism. For their debut single, “Don’t You Worry Babe,” Belle and Chain flaunt these elements. The acoustic-led song highlights strings, piano, and Western-inspired rock nuances, making for a compelling introduction to the duo. Meanwhile, we hear, “Don’t you worry babe / You’ll be just fine all on your own,” with Belle and Chain offering both a consolation and a goodbye. Grammer further shares,

“It’s similar to a breakup song, but it takes a more gentle approach to letting someone go and letting them know that they’ll be alright on their own.”

Belle and Chain are currently on the road as the main support for Barns Courtney on his ‘Unplugged Solo Acoustic Sessions’ tour. The tour kicked off on April 1 in Dallas and will make its way through North America before wrapping up in Los Angeles on May 3. Tickets and more information can be found here.

“Don’t You Worry Babe” is out now via The Underground/Not Dead Yet Media. You can listen to it here.
