Ally Salort tries to get to the “Finish Line” on new single

Date:

LA-based singer-songwriter Ally Salort said goodbye to her past self back in February when she released “I’ve Never Met Her.” The single was celebratory yet reflective as Ally embraced a more confident, more assured identity. She eagerly released her old self, and in doing so, stepped into a new chapter. But sometimes, stepping into a new chapter isn’t as easy as it seems…

On “Finish Line,” Ally realizes that every step she takes toward that finish line sets her another two paces behind. Over the folksy pop production, she sings, “There’s a version of me that would die for this / But why don’t I see that?” and “When I get it, I’m worried I’m gonna lose it,” frustrated with herself. It captures the concept of not being satisfied with the journey you take to get to your destination, when people claim that the journey is the best part. All the while, Ally concludes, “The finish line keeps moving back,” doubtful that she will get to a place where she is content. You can check it out in the visualizer below.

“Finish Line” and “I’ve Never Met Her” are Ally’s first singles of 2026. They follow the release of her debut EP, Change of Plans, which came out last summer. Additionally, the singles also showcase the artistry and storytelling found on the project, but they also highlight Ally’s growth from then to now.

“Finish Line” is out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. You can listen to it here.
