Date:

Every year, Chicago holds a three-day music festival that features today’s most exciting artists. Known as Lollapalooza, the event draws in a sea of music lovers from around the world who just want to end their summer in style. While enjoyed by many, there is probably a lot about Lollapalooza that fans don’t know, like when it first started or how it first started. For those who want to know, or who just want to celebrate such an iconic festival, they can turn to LOLLAPALOOZA: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival.

Coming March 25 from St. Martin’s Press, LOLLAPALOOZA: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival is an immersive look at Lollapalooza’s formative years. Written by bestselling authors and music journalists Richard Beinstock and Tom Beaujour, the book will bring readers back to the early 90s and take them onstage, backstage, and everywhere in between. Following a foreword from Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, readers will also get insight from Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Patti Smith, Alice in Chains, Metallica, and many other artists, founders, promoters, and organizers who made Lollapalooza a reality.

Aside from all that went into the festival, there is much that Lollapalooza gave back. The book sheds light on this impact, like how it helped push the alternative rock scene to become a source of inspiration for 90s music, fashion, movies, and more. It also set the standard for the music festivals of today, as it featured bands from diverse and various genres like heavy metal, hip-hop, goth, and electronic dance. Readers will not only learn about Lollapalooza’s history, but they will also get to celebrate all it represents moving forward.

LOLLAPALOOZA: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival will be available March 25. Pre-orders can be made here.
