moonpool release brooding new single “Like You Do”

Date:

moonpool has unveiled their haunting new single “Like You Do,” which serves as the lead track from their upcoming double release, Syzygy

“Like You Do” blends brooding shoegaze, grunge, and post-punk influences to create a heavy, emotionally charged track. The Denver-based band channels the urgency of change through the song’s visceral and relentless energy. The fuzzy guitar riffs, raw vocal delivery and overall distorted production give the song a melancholic allure that feeds into its volatile nature. The echoing breakdown that hits the song around the two-minute mark is one of its most memorable and enticing moments.

After the band rebranded in January and released their first EP as moonpool in March, “Like You Do” offers another glance at the band’s continued direction towards a more grunge and shoegaze-inspired sound. It serves as the first glimpse into their next chapter with Syzygy, which is said to explore themes of tension, alignment, and the edges of becoming.

The release of “Like You Do” is accompanied by a music video that captures the song’s haunting energy. With scenes featuring the band in an abandoned building with masked figures looming behind them, the video’s eerie atmosphere makes for a stunning and spooky visualizer.

moonpool is returning for Denver’s final Underground Music Showcase with a special show at midnight on the first night of the festival at the Hornet on July 26th. The band will also be opening for Hoobastank in Wyoming on July 25th. Tickets and information for moonpool’s upcoming shows can be found here
