Miley Cyrus expands on Something Beautiful with two fresh tracks, “Secrets (feat. Lindsey Buckingham & Mick Fleetwood)” and “Lockdown (feat. David Byrne).”
Only an icon such as Cyrus could finesse a collaboration with some of the most influential voices in music. “Secrets” features contributions from Lindsey Buckingham (guitar) and Mick Fleetwood (drums), former Fleetwood Mac members. The ballad was written as a “peace offering” to her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Sometimes family can get a little messy, but this song resonates because it captures the beauty of allowing loved ones to hold their secrets while still offering them unconditional love and understanding.
Cyrus took to Instagram to share the following statement:
“This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same. Thank you Lindsey Buckingham & Mick Fleetwood for bringing magic to the music. This song is for my dad.”
Rock loyalty David Byrne of Talking Heads joins Cyrus for 13-minutes of psychedelic pop on “Lockdown.” This song is exactly what you’d expect when two boundary-pushing artists collide. Fans have been begging for an official collaboration between the two ever since performing “Let’s Dance” and “Everybody’s Coming To My House” at Cyrus’ NBC New Year’s Eve special in 2022.
It doesn’t look like Cyrus has any plans of slowing down — could another project be on the horizon?
