Melodic Music Monday: February 16

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

charlieonnafriday, “Never Do” – On “Never Do,” charlieonnafriday sits with a feeling most people know too well: doing the exact thing you promised yourself you wouldn’t. But rather than dress that moment up, the song lets it play out naturally into discomfort rather than resolution. It’s more of a late-night realization than a neatly packaged pop single.

– Allyson Franzo

——

Bleachers, “you and forever” – The track, written and produced by Jack Antonoff, is a love anthem about finding the one person who makes life feel survivable when everything else feels hopeless. To me, it reads like: the world is brutal and the future is terrifying, but loving you makes me believe in something permanent. It’s romantic, sure, but it’s also survival mode romance — the kind where love isn’t just a feeling, it’s the thing you cling to when everything else starts slipping.

– Hannah Croteau

——

almost a.m., “CAT AND DOG” – Their new single “CAT AND DOG” is heavily inspired by indie and alternative music, while also bringing back the 2014 tumblr vibes. It feels like a soundtrack to rebellion, with punchy drums and some catchy spoken-word lyrics.

– Emily Smith

——

Knox, “Go For Broke” – Knox explores the differences in what seems to be a new relationship in “Go For Broke” with a bright and catchy backdrop. The first line is an exposed vocal track with a build of instruments as the song progresses, catching steam and showing cracks in the songwriter’s armor.

– Shauna Hilferty
