Marissa Nadler has announced that her new album, New Radiations, is arriving this summer.
The album, which features the dreamy title track, is due out Aug. 15, via Sacred Bones.

New Radiations, Nadler’s tenth official full-length record, is described as a “raw, intimidate and breathtaking collection of eleven otherworldly songs.” The singer’s voice takes center stage.
This album comes after The Path of the Clouds and its companion EP, The Wrath of the Clouds. With dreamlike and airy soundscapes, Nadler’s lush vocals create a lively yet melancholic feeling in your stomach, with its organ and synthesizers.
The album, which was self-produced by Nadler in Nashville — both at Haptown Studios with the help of friend Roger Moutenot, and her home studio — was also mixed by Randall Dunn with arrangements from Milky Burgess.
On the title track, “New Radiations,” Nadler braces for impact and “psychic vibrations and new radiations have taken their toll on [her],” according to a release. The album is set to feature sweet, catchy melodies and dark, visceral lyrics that run deep, they say.
“My aim was to distort space and time into a kind of dreamspace through layered imagery and effects,” Nadler explains. “The video slips between dimensions—surreal landscapes, dissolving faces, collapsing structures, distant explosions, underwater worlds.
A haunting yet sentimental track, she tries to “break the glass, tie up the ending of the scene” on “New Radiations.”
About the new single, she says:
“My narrator (whether these are first person songs or not really depends on how you want to listen to them) is feeling stuck, depressed, and frozen in a world after a tough few years for the world. Regardless, the ‘psychic vibrations and new radiations’ take their toll. The cosmic darkness we live in creeps into the psyche-but the character reaches clarity. As the song unfolds, the screen shatters, the ice breaks, and a new world begins.”
