Lowborn Releases New Single ‘Reckless’

Back in December, self proclaimed emo-pop band Lowborn released their first single, “Crazy.” In four short months it has reached nearly 10,000 streams on Spotify, and it’s not difficult to see why. The Greensboro based 4-piece has a unique sound that holds on to some familiarities of the genres they’re trying to emulate, but add in their own elements. Fans of alternative pop and alternative rock will find striking similarities to some of their favorite bands, but “Crazy” incorporated an electronic element most purist alternative bands avoid. This spin on my personal favorite genre is what had me hooked.

Today Lowborn released a new single, “Reckless,” with an accompanying music video. “Reckless” has a very similar vibe as “Crazy,” that is, alternative base with an electronic spin, further hammering in the sound Lowborn is developing for themselves. The video shows the four members of the band having a night in the city, cutting between various locations in the city, a bar, a roof, and even a seemingly plain house. Coupled with the song, telling about a desire to “be more” and experience the feeling of letting go and being free, the video captures the rebellious desires within all of us.

“Reckless” is a fiery start to 2018 for Lowborn, and I’m very curious to see if they continue developing the synthetic sound they’ve created with “Reckless” and “Crazy.” Lowborn is close to gaining the title of “Best Band You’ve Never Heard Of.” I will be keeping a close watch on them, and I seriously suggest you do too.
