Loviet enters the new year with release of “PLUSH”

Date:

Loviet begins the year with the release of her new single, “PLUSH,” the third track unveiled by the alt-indie pop artist in recent years. The release is accompanied by an official music video and arrives as part of an active period for the artist, who has spent the last two years performing across North America.

Sonically, “PLUSH” draws from early-2000s pop rock, with influences cited from The Killers’ Hot Fuss, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Show Your Bones, and The Cardigans’ Super Extra Gravity. The song centers on the emotional push and pull of falling in love, capturing the tension between desire and self-awareness.

To Loviet, the track reflects personal experiences and insecurities around vulnerability.

“I wrote this song about the frenzy of falling in love and my own experiences and insecurities that being soft is inherently more attractive as a woman,” says Loviet. “The narrative is a battle of yearning and self-awareness – figuring out what lengths you’re willing to take while trying to stay true to yourself despite the emotional chaos of wanting someone.”

“PLUSH” follows two previous singles: the glitter-meets-grunge “CHEERLEADER” and the punk-adjacent “STIFFY.” Together, the three releases mark a recent chapter in Loviet’s output, coinciding with a period of increased live performance. Over the past two years, she has appeared at festivals including Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, and Ottawa Blues Fest.

The new single and video arrive ahead of a run of tour dates in Alberta next month, where Loviet will perform in support of Last Dinosaurs. She is also scheduled to appear at the New Maritime Music Fest this summer. The announced dates include:

February 15 – Edmonton, AB @ The Starlite Room*
February 16 – Banff, AB @ Melissa’s MisSteak*
February 17 – Calgary, AB @ Commonwealth*
July 3 – Miramichi, NB @ New Maritime Music Fest
* = w/ Last Dinosaurs

With “PLUSH,” Loviet adds another release to her growing catalog, pairing a defined set of influences with a clearly stated emotional focus, as she continues into a new year of recorded music and live performances.
