With a rush of feelings taking over, Jenna Raine faces the unexpected feeling of falling for someone who’s already admired and noticed by everyone else. “Talk Of The Town” is flirty, cinematic and feels like the soundtrack to a meet-cute — the one where the underdog girl unexpectedly gets the guy everyone’s after.
The dreamy, upbeat pop song opens with Raine seeing a guy she likes from afar. She sees him as cool, collected and all the girls are obsessed. Like most, she can’t stop thinking about him, and we soon realize that she actually is finding a deep connection — something so real, that sets them apart from his long line of girls who like him (“Tell myself that he’s just not my type / But it’s been days and he’s still on my mind”).
Surprisingly, she finds that, while he’s extremely charming, he’s interested in her as well. The cinematic feelings take hold as the song continues, and now it’s magnetic. She talks about the physical details that make him so magnetic, such as long hair, brown eyes and hands-in-pockets confidence, but she’s not the only one (“Uh-oh, here I go, another girl down / Fallin’ for the talk of the town”).
While it may seem like something so far out of the ordinary, what is the talk of the town shifts toward the end and the guy chooses her, asks her out and now they are together. They are now, fittingly, “the talk of the town.”
