Jean Valery Explores Love and Turmoil in “Drive Me Crazy”

Date:

Jean Valery, known for his role in the hip-hop duo “blackwave.”, steps into the spotlight with his new solo single “Drive Me Crazy”. Valery delves into a fusion of electro-pop, alternative hip-hop, and alt-pop, blending the sounds of Dominic Fike and The Gorillaz. This track, which debuted on May 30th, is a strong introduction to his solo career, promising a captivating blend of genres and emotional depth.

“Drive Me Crazy” explores an intense and turbulent love story. The song begins with Valery searching for connection and experiencing the rush of love, only to find himself ensnared by its addictive qualities. The lyrics, such as “why you want to play games with me when you said you wanted us to me like M and C”, reveal the confusion and frustration accompanying passionate relationships. The chorus, “driving me crazy running last in my mind”, perfectly encapsulates the obsessive nature of his emotions.

As Valery explains,

“Drive Me Crazy revolves around a string of experiences and emotions that were lived in a very intense but short, raging love story. So passionate.. but turbulent. Blissful.. but woeful. Fresh out of a swimming pool full of lovers, urging to feel connected, we shared plenty. Love, affection, pain, and trauma. It was a trip, to say the least. I let her chaos set fire to my being, to my spirit and whichever path it was to be taking me, I became acceptant of it.. letting it lead me. While sinking deep into my thoughts I embraced her beauty, her fury. Succumbed by its existence I let it fuel me like a raging flame that got out of control.. out of character. Until I broke. Until I found myself in the middle of the aftermath, looking to reconstruct the beauty of it all.”

Valery’s background with blackwave., which includes syncs on EA Sports FC, collaborations with artists like Lute and Benny Sings, and substantial streaming numbers, sets a strong foundation for his solo work. His ability to blend genres and create emotionally resonant music is evident in “Drive Me Crazy”, making it a must-listen for fans of electro-pop and alternative hip-hop.
